Greetings and Welcome!
On behalf of the Pi Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, I welcome you to our website. With a current membership of nearly 200 dynamic and dedicated members, it is my esteemed honor to serve as the 16th President of this exceptional, award-winning chapter. Together, we work toward the common goal to impact lives and positively transform the Rutherford County Community.
On July 6, 1986, sixteen phenomenal women chartered the Pi Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in Murfreesboro, TN. With its rich and esteemed history, our chapter is the first and only graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in the Rutherford County community.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was founded on January 15, 1908, as an international service organization, and it was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women. The Pi Nu Omega chapter has been at the forefront of fulfilling our sorority's mission with a remarkable legacy and history of public service that spans nearly 116 years.
Service and sisterhood have been the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® since 1908. With the theme Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, the 2022-2026 administration seeks to build upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's rich legacy of Service by galvanizing our sisterhood of more than 120,000 active members to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy.
Under the leadership of our International President and CEO, Danette Anthony Reed's administration has six initiatives. Strengthen Our Sisterhood will serve as the administration's "Foundation Initiative" as we strengthen our bonds to support our service mission. The remaining five initiatives will serve as the "Program Initiatives" and include Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, and Uplift Our Local Community. These initiatives are designed to improve the lives of those we serve. We will work collaboratively to maximize our outreach on progressive endeavors and consistently produce leaders who will advance our Service credo.
We invite you to visit our website frequently for information about our programs, events, and initiatives. We also encourage you to connect with us on our social media platforms. If you are a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® looking for a chapter to call home, consider Pi Nu Omega. We are a diverse chapter with all generations represented, and we would be honored to have you join us. There is a place for every Sister in Service in the phenomenal Pi Nu Omega Chapter! Thank you for visiting our website.
Yours in Service,
16th Chapter President of the Pi Nu Omega Chapter
